If you caught my recent post on the 12 things that help me stay motivated every day, you’ll know that I’m a busy #GirlBoss who relies on a number of different ways to help me get through everything I need to do in a day. Soon after publishing that feature, I came to realize that there is some cross-over when it comes to what helps me stay motivated, and what I rely on to boost my self-confidence, and body confidence, on a daily basis. If you’re in need of some assistance when it comes to helping yourself feel like you’re ready to slay every day, here are 5 simple tips I use that might help you too:
1. Use The Power of Positive Thinking
The power of positive thinking appeared in my list of what helps me stay motivated and I’m kicking off this list with it too because of just how important it is. Perhaps I need to think positively about my career and accomplishments to keep me motivated for work, but when it comes to my body and self-confidence I regularly remind myself to think positively about who I am and what I look like. Let’s all remember to take time to give ourselves some love!
2. Treat Your Body Like a Temple
Although I definitely like to indulge here and there, eating junk food and feeling sluggish doesn’t make me feel my best. For this reason, I constantly remind myself to treat my body like a temple (sometimes multiple times a day!) so that I opt as often as possible for the healthier meal choice, and make the extra effort to get myself to the gym. When these choices and efforts are made, my body and mind always feel like a million bucks!
3. Remember To Smile More
Did you know that the simple act of smiling activates neural messaging that benefits your health and happiness? Crazy, right? Sometimes when I catch myself scowling for no reason, I remind myself to sit up straight and SMILE, even if it isn’t at anyone or anything in particular. Of course, feeling confident about your smile is key when it comes to a truly happy smile, which is why it’s important to take care of it. Relating to my point about treating your body like a temple, it’s imperative to keep up with regular dental appointments to keep your teeth looking and feeling great. After all, you’ve only got one set of them as an adult! If you haven’t visited a dentist in quite some time, I encourage you to find one in your area today by visiting the Ontario Dental Association’s website. Ps. Did you know that April is Oral Health Month? What more reason do you need to book an appointment!?
4. Groom and Dress To Feel Great
Although I may no longer be as hopelessly fashion obsessed as I used to be when I was younger, I still love great pieces of clothing and accessories, and truly respect the power of how a fabulous outfit can make you feel. Hint: it’s FAB-U-LOUS! I know that getting a fresh blow out and putting on a great dress can instantly make me feel amazing and confident, even on a day when I don’t wake up feeling my best. When it comes to grooming, I also love to maintain a white smile to feel confident. Do note that if you’re interested in using at-home whitening products, a visit to the dentist should be made to ensure your teeth are healthy before applying the products.
5. Give Yourself Compliments
I think that many of us are way too hard on ourselves and tend to say or think more negative things about ourselves than positive things in a day. Just as you might take the time to compliment a friend, colleague or family member, remember to compliment yourself too. Do you love your teeth and bright white smile? Well, tell yourself! Are you feeling super fly in today’s outfit? Give yourself a pat on the back! Are your eyes your favourite feature on your face? Let yourself know! Instead of focusing on what you don’t like about your body, try instead to highlight what you love about your body.
I hope #MyConfidenceChecklist helps you to #SlayAllDay!
