It’s finally happening, folks. After weeks of heat warnings and crazy humidity, fall is almost here. Even as September 1 came and went, the breeze flying through the city certainly has a definite chill and while we’ll all miss those balmy summer nights dearly, I cannot wait for all the fall coziness that’s on its way. Of course, you can get into the fall spirit by bundling up with a chunky scarf and PSL but if you’re looking for a 2021 way to update your fall wardrobe, then look no further. Here are all the fall fashion pieces that’ll give you the Hot Girl Autumn you’re obviously after.
Even though we’ve been wearing boyfriend hoodies and oversized sweatshirts for, like, ever, there’s something much cooler about wearing one this fall. A longer and more roomy sweatshirt is perfect to layer with when the weather starts to take a chill. Wear yours over trendy bike shorts or leggings for errands or a workout class. But you can also do it up a little with an oxford shirt underneath and a pair of distressed denim. It’s the perfect transitional piece for this time of year.
Believe it or not but clogs are back and yes, they’re actually better than ever. What was once a trend from the ‘70s, became all-the-rage back in the ‘00s and now they’re making a chic reappearance. Whether you’re more into suede clogs with a fur trim, edgier leather ones, or ones with a heel for a quick height boost, there’s a pair out there for you that you can wear all year round, minus snow days. I wear mine with almost everything in my closet from bike shorts, to denim, and even a summer dress for more boho vibes.
Another trend that I didn’t expect to see making the rounds are sweater vests. These little gems are actually a brilliant transitional piece for the season as it’s chillier in the morning/evening but sunny and warm in the afternoons. The fact that the styling opportunities and different fits are endless is another huge bonus. Go big and oversized and pair with tall platform boots or rock a big collared shirt underneath for all the chic Nana vibes.
Yes, I know the shacket was around last fall but it’s a fall fashion trend that’s so perfect that I had to include it here. Another fab layering piece, the shacket is like wearing a trendy blanket and after all the months of WFH and lockdowns, I’m so here for it. Rock it as a layering piece or wear yours on its own all buttoned up and cinched with a large-and-in-charge belt.
Not your basic sweater dress
A sweater dress is a fall staple and while I definitely have a few in rotation, I’m always in search of one that’s got a little something extra going on. Whether that’s a few well-placed cutouts, a minimal drawstring detail, or even embellishments, I’m always looking for that extra stand-out factor. If you’re looking to update your fall wardrobe with a 2021 sweater dress, try out something like this Song of Style option with buttons and chic belt detail.
If clogs aren’t your jam, then try on a pair of chunky loafers this season. The flatform vibe is so chic and it gives a quick boost of height without needing a pair of heels. You can wear them with pretty much any outfit and they add that cool Gossip Girl style to your lewk. Go big and splurge on the iconic Prada loafers but if those are outside the parameters of your budget, you can likely find a pair in any High Street store to fit the fall fashion trend.
They might seem like prizes you’d get at a school dance but furry accessories are somehow making the rounds on your fave celebs and street style stars. Fur hats and purses have been seen on everyone from Rihanna to Hailey Beiber so you know that they’re all the rage this fall. Over here at #E7, we’re all about big and bold styles and this is one fall fashion trend that’ll have you standing out from the crowd.
