Trust me, I know first-hand how hard it can be to give up coffee and red wine (two of my favourite things!) just to maintain a bright, white smile. Personally, I don’t believe in having to give up things I love just for my own vanity (and confidence), which is why at-home teeth whitening systems have been a beauty go-to of mine for years.
I would consider myself to be a fairly conscious consumer when it comes to my beauty products, and beyond the quality of the ingredients. I like to know as much as I can about what I’m putting on and in my body. There’s absolutely no exception when it comes to my teeth and oral health, so, like many of you, I’ve often wondered about how safe whitestrips really are, and how they work.
This all changed when I had the opportunity to meet the creator of Crest Whitestrips, Paul Sagel, at an event to launch the new Crest 3D White Whitestrips and Light last fall. Admittedly, it was a bit of a ‘Romy and Michele High School Reunion’ moment when I was like “Oh yeah, there is actually an inventor of Crest Whitestrips!”
Between Crest Whitestrips inventor, Paul Sagel, and his colleague, Sherrie Kinderdine, a Crest Global Innovation Leader, I’ve learned some fun facts and tips about using Crest Whitestrips (especially the new Crest 3D White Whitestrips with Light) that have made me even more of a ‘belieber’ in this at-home whitening system.
Keep reading for 7 things you might not know about using Crest 3D White Whitestrips and Light that I learned from Paul and Sherrie:
Paul’s Curiosity Lead To Creating Whitestrips
According to Sherrie, Paul once told her that his curiosity around kidney dialysis membranes is what inspired him to try to create a thin flexible film for whitening. She’s a big fan of this fact because, as she says, “it’s these types of seemingly unrelated things that can sometimes result in the biggest innovations!”
The Light Is Biggest Innovation Since Whitestrips
The new blue light device that comes with the new Crest 3D White Whitestrips with Light product pack is considered to be the most innovative addition to the Crest Whitestrips lineup. The unique blue light system using the same type of light technology used by dentists and provides results that whiten 2x better than a professional treatment.
Whitestrips Have Come A Long Way Since 2008
Even though being able to isolate and stabilize hydrogen peroxide in a flexible thin film was revolutionary at the time, the first strips that hit the market were, according to Sherrie, ‘quite slippier and didn’t provide the consumer with the best experience.’ Of course now we’re able to enjoy thing Whitestrips that stick to your teeth and don’t move around while you whiten!
People with Sensitive Teeth CAN Use Whitestrips
As someone with sensitive teeth, whitening while avoiding sensitivity issues has always been my biggest concern. Paul and Sherrie recommend that if people experience sensitivity when whitening, the best solution is to either shorten the wear time or skip a day until the sensitivity resolves. Some people are a lot more sensitive than others and therefore, it can take longer for their teeth to adjust.
3D White Whitestrips with Light Gets The Best Results
At this point you might be wondering, do I really need to spend the extra cash for the Light when I can purchase a cheaper kit without it? Without a doubt, Sherrie recommends buying Crest 3D White Whitestrips with Light over other whitening strip products because, for just a bit more money, you can get a dramatic boost in your whitening results that last 36 months, longer than strips alone. When whitening, you want to make sure you’re going to get the very best results possible, don’t you?
The Pros Use Strips Every Week for Maintenance
So how often should you be using Whitestrips to get that pearly white smile? This is something I wanted to know, so I asked Sherrie about her own personal routine. She says she uses a full kit for special occasions and one or two strips a week for maintenance.
Do You Have To Avoid Coffee and Wine Forever?
If you read the intro to this post (which I hope you did, considering that’s how you got all the way here) then you’ll know that giving up coffee and wine for a white smile is not an option in my books. I mean, why give them up when you can have the best of both worlds? I loved Sherrie’s tips for dealing with red wine stains and your white smile. She says finds putting lip balm on helps avoid turning her lips purple, and she brushes with Crest 3D White Brilliance toothpaste and puts on a Whitestrip as soon as she gets home to maintain her white smile.
