Let’s face it, getting to the gym can be hard. Even though I try my best to get there almost every day, it always gets harder when my schedule gets crazier, and it can be non-existent when I’m travelling. With a commitment to making sure I take care of my mind and body every single day this year, I’ve been thinking about what I can do to keep up with my fitness, even when the next six weeks of my life include four nearly back-to-back weeks of travel. Since I’m not a fan of running, I’ve had to consider alternatives that I can turn to that don’t require anything more than the right clothing and a pair of sneakers.
For my first post in 2017 for Avocados from Mexico, and to coincide with the launch of the new #AVOLIFESTYLE section on their website, I decided to kick things off with a fun video to share some of my favourite workout moves to do at home (or in a hotel room) along with a super yummy Avocado Matcha Smoothie recipe!
If you’re anything like me, you don’t need much reason to enjoy an avocado, but you will be happy to know that eating an avocado before your workout can provide valuable healthy fat for an energetic boost when your body needs it most. Combined with the energizing properties of matcha and a vegan protein powder, you’ve got the ultimate green smoothie to enjoy before a good sweat session!

Avocado Matcha Smoothie Recipe
What You Need:
- 1 cup coconut milk
- ½ cup water
- 1 cup spinach
- ½ avocado from Mexico
- 1 granny smith apple
- 1 tbsp matcha
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 scoop vegan protein powder
What To Do:
- Add all ingredients to a high powdered blender and blend until smooth.
- Pour into your favourite smoothie glass and enjoy!
