On Tuesday evening this week the CAFA 2015 nominees were announced in an exclusive and intimate gathering at The Spoke Club on King West. I sent my girl Michelle Pinchev of City by Heart to attend the official announcement first-hand, here’s what happened:
Canadian fashion industry insiders gathered and waited with bated breath as the 2015 Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards (CAFA) nominees were announced in Toronto’s King West design district Tuesday evening.
The CAFA 2015 nominees, announced live at the Spoke Club by a dapper Kardinal Offishal, included some new categories this year – two Emerging Talent Awards and a Fashion Blogger of the Year Award. Among the nominees announced were design duos Greta Constantine and SMYTHE for Womeanswear, Ela Handbags and Mackage for Accessories and many more (see below for the full list of nominees).
Another evening highlight was the announcement of The Canadian Fashion Fund, co-founded and presented by bankers Brittney Kuczynski and Amit Thakar, which is aimed at helping under-funded, high potential opportunities in the Canadian fashion industry.
Now in its second year, the 2015 CAFA winners will be selected by an elite jury panel consisting of fashion editors Bernadette Morra and Cameron Williamson, model Coco Rocha, Canadian fashion icon Jeanne Beker, and others.
