There wasn’t much about turning 30 that scared me, in fact, I embraced it. Unlike when I turned 25 and experienced an anxiety-ridden quarter-life crisis related to what I was doing with life, I entered my thirties with a cool and calm confidence about who I am, what I’m doing and where I’m going. Although I recognized and honoured my accomplishments, it would be a lie to say that everything about turning 30 was better than when I was 25. I mean, let’s face it: while my career may have accelerated, my skin has declined, and that’s mainly due to the fact that I’m simply five years older than I was then.
I will admit that everything that the older women in my life have said about dealing with your body (and its upkeep) as you get older is true, and it feels like it gets more challenging every day. It’s not that things are all bad, it’s just, well, more work. It also feels like you’re less resilient to everything and anything; just like the way I can’t bounce back from late nights out the same way I could in my early twenties. On top of that, simple things like just going outside can affect your skin negatively too. For example, did you know that dermatologists acknowledge that 80% of skin aging is due to accelerators such as pollution and sun exposure? That’s right ladies, you can only blame your age and genetics for 20% of your problems.
So maybe my age isn’t (totally) to blame, but venturing into my thirties does come with a new laser focus on how I can maintain the best skin care and upkeep I possibly can. Of course there’s no question that my favourite Glowing Green Smoothie places a big part in my daily ritual for health and beauty, but Yves Rocher has recently released a new skincare range designed for a daily detox action to help skin fight against the harmful effects of aging accelerators like icky pollution.
As you may already know, Yves Rocher is one of my favourite brands for plant-based skincare and makeup that’s super affordable and far more accessible than most botanical product lines out there. If you’re looking to incorporate a new ‘green’ routine into your beauty regime, this new line (that contains a miracle extract from the Aphloia plant) could be for you.
Here’s a breakdown of how and why the new Elixir Jeunesse product line can help protect your skin from the aging effects of pollution and provide you with a daily detox action that won’t break the bank:
It Includes Aphloia’s Miracle Molecule
The Aphloia plant originates from the high plateaus of Madagascar and is able to completely renew its bark and concentrate a natural molecule at the heart of its leaves. The Experts at Yves Rocher have been able to extract and highly concentrate the Aphloia’s active molecule in a natural and innovate solution in order to deliver the strength of this plant to help restore our skin.
It Supports Women In The Workforce (Safely and Sustainably)
The harvest of Aphloia is a demanding and rigorous process done by women who are trained in the delicate art of leaf picking. It is only done by hand from October to April, during the rainy season, to facilitate leaf renewal. Yves Rocher experts work closely with a local SME that is particularly respectful of working conditions, fair wages and private lives to guarantee the traceability, safety and sustainable management of its botanical supply chains.
The Extract Fights Against Aging Accelerators
When over-concentrated, the Aphloia extract is easily absorbed by the skin and helps to fight against the ageing accelerators such as pollution, UV, stress and fatigue by boosting skin repair and its anti-pollution defense systems. Integrated into the Elixir Jeunesse product line, the Aphloia extract will help you achieve an immediate ‘detoxification’ for visibly brighter and rested skin.
The Bottles Are Made from Recycled Glass
Beyond the amazing effects this product can have on your skin, I love that even the packaging is earth-friendly too. The bottles for the Elixir Jeunesse line are made with recyclable glass, and all of the cardboard come from sustainably managed forests.
It’s Free From The Bad Stuff
Avoiding the ‘Dirty Dozen’ might be something you’re familiar with when grocery shopping, and many of us are beginning to take the same approach to our skincare. The Elixir Jeunesse line is mineral oil free, silicone free, colorant free and paraben free so that you can enjoy them worry free!
It’s Proven To Reduce Your Wrinkles
At this point you might be thinking, “this sounds great, but does it really work?” The answer is yes, and the Yves Rocher team has done the research to prove it. After a test that was carried out over four weeks on 101 women using the product two times a day, the appearance of wrinkles was reduced and skin was repaired for 73% of women.
