Good Goddess Toronto - collagen powder - edit seven

We won’t lie to you; a pretty package that’s well designed will often catch our eye, but that doesn’t mean we’re always easily swayed to buy it. We talk regularly about our love for BOLO (aka BodyLove Inc.) in Toronto–which is where we tend to spend most of our time whether it be for a workout, play, or pleasure–and we owe it to their in-house cafe for introducing us to the goodness that is the GOOD GODDESS. Although it’s all  wrapped up in a pretty pink package, GOOD GODDESS products don’t mess around when it comes to the benefits they deliver to your body. From their Fantastic Fat MTC Oil to their Powderful Essential Grass-Fed Collagen (that you may have already read about in our Collagen Bulletproof Coffee Recipe) we couldn’t be more obsessed with GOOD GODDESS founder, Natasha Geddes, and the dope af products she creates to help us live our best, and most beautiful, lives. Keep reading to find out more about Natasha and her brand!

Edit Seven: Tell us about your business, what do you do?

Natasha Geddes: I founded Good Goddess, a company and brand that offers a fresh, contemporary outlook on wellness.  It’s important for me to take the confusion out of getting healthy. Good Goddess products help you become a more optimal version of yourself and the personalized (and life-friendly) nutrition programs are offered to help men and women stay inspired and on track.

E7: How did you start your business? What inspired you to start?

NG: I took a deep dive into mindful cooking and nutrition, always challenging myself to create delicious gluten-free, dairy-free recipes and explore the power of supplements. My hobby took on a life of its own when I became inundated with messages from friends, family and colleagues asking for more information about my food and magic potions. That’s when I realized that so many people want to live their healthiest life but they just need a little direction. And there was the light bulb moment!

E7: Why do you love what you do?

NG: Nutrition, on and off the plate, can change people lives, heal and even prevent disease (let’s all take a moment and break down the word dis-ease).  I feel lucky to play a role in impacting a person’s life is such positive ways. If offering a simple but game-changing tip, wholesome meals or a shoulder to cry on can improve a person’s life, how can I not love that. THAT nourishes me. Cue the cashew cheese, I know. But it’s true!

E7: What makes your business special?

NG: The Good Goddess “nest” is a safe zone. We’re realistic about life and we never judge. We’re cool but not too cool. All our products are family-friendly and the sense of community is very important to us.

E7: Tell us more about the products you specialize in?

NG: All our products are meant to add function to foods. Why have just a coffee, when you can turn it into a fat-burning, mind-sharpening super coffee? We turn your lemon water into a protein-packed collagen beverage and the list goes on!

E7: Why are these products good for your health?

NG: Good Goddess products are all-natural and are inspired by ancient rituals and Ayurvedic practices but have been given a contemporary twist making them extremely approachable and understandable. They’re adapted to fit the context of today’s busy lives and demands – that’s the point of difference that makes them good for your health.

E7: What makes these products so special?

NG: Good Goddess happened organically – it’s not about jumping on trends or capitalizing on fads. These products are special because they’re personalized and approachable, which is rare when it comes to supplements and healthy options. I’ve created easy-to-use products that help me and my family so I know they will do the same for others. They’re also delicious! You don’t feel like you’re swallowing a bitter pill for a great result. This is real coffee, real dairy-free yogurt and simple supplements that taste amazing and fit into everyday life.

E7: What are some of your favourite/most recommend ways to use or consume your products?

NG: I’m a Bulletproof disciple. I’ve been waking up to butter coffee for over 5 years now and swear by it. I use GG Fantastic Fat and Powderful Collagen, along with grass-fed butter, separately but I also use them as a dynamic duo in smoothies.  I love making collagen detox water too!  My latest obsession is GG Curtonic Soda! A few drops of our new Curtonic Curcumin (AKA turmeric) Potion in sparkling water tastes like Ginger Ale but is packed with anti-inflammatory extracts!

E7: Do you have a favourite recipe using your products that we should try? If so, why?

NG: For me, it’s daily butter coffee, collagen smoothies and Curtonic drinks but I love making muffins for my family and friends using Powderful Collagen. I just add a few tablespoons to almond or coconut flour when making Paleo muffins. They love them and, this way, they’re getting all the great benefits such as added protein, bone and joint support and healthy hair, skin and nails.

E7: Is there anything you wish you’d known before starting your business?

NG: It sounds crazy but not really. Working for a start-up in my previous life helped me experience some of the realities to expect and I’m truly thankful for that. I think when you’re inspired by an idea and passionate about it, it just takes over and pursuing it becomes a thrill. It’s so satisfying to see an idea come to fruition. Having said that, I do think a few more hours in the day would come in handy when building a brand!

E7: What is a challenge you’d tell future entrepreneurs in the health and wellness business to prepare for?

NG: Be yourself and know that you will NEVER please everyone. Be a good person; we’re dealing with people’s lives. It’s a pretty big deal! Don’t rush into anything.

E7: What’s the biggest lesson you learned from running your business so far?

NG: Everything moves a lot slower than you would ever think!

E7: How do you stay organized, balanced and motivated?

NG: Every day of the week is allocated for something specific and I try and stick to it. For example: Mondays are for emails and admin; Tuesdays/Wednesdays are for cooking; Thursdays are for meetings etc… The balance comes from my 95/5 rule. 95% of my day-to-day, I’m “on it” (work, kids, clean eating, working out), but I give myself 5% to have a few tequilas with my girls, eat guacamole, take naps and forget about things. And I have ZERO guilt about it!

E7: Who are some of your mentors/role models?

NG: I’m inspired from afar by people who are doing incredible things in their industries like Emily Weiss from Glossier but I also draw strength from the people close to me, like my dear friend (and powerhouse supermom girl-boss) Jen Lee Koss, Co-Founder of Brika, and GG’s resident doctor, Dr. Elizabeth Strawbridge, who is opening a holistic lifestyle and medicine facility in Portland, Maine next year!

E7: Do you have a daily or regular ritual you practice that you love?

NG: I wake up and have a big glass of water while making butter coffee. I take “mindful moments” throughout the day to stay calm and focused (I’m still working on meditation). I eat and live very clean 95% of the time. This way I never feel guilty about my 5%!  I try and exercise 4 times a week (love to box) and I take beautiful baths with palo santo, salts, oils and a ginger tea with our new GG Sedatonic Tincture, the ashwagandha calms you right down and sets the tone for bedtime!

E7: Where do you go or what do you do to look for inspiration?

NG: I go to our house on the East Coast to take a step back from the craziness and take in nature. I also love conversations with like-minded people. Sometimes it involves a piece of “special adult chocolate” and that’s where we can go to the next level of ideas and inspirations 😉

E7: What can people expect with they book an appointment with you and/or purchase Good Goddess products?

NG: Great question. They can expect the key to the club. They are now part of the inspired and supportive community and you’re never alone in our nest. Our products all have a reason for being, they all serve unique purposes and they all work, that’s my promise. What’s the point of putting out products that don’t work and offering programs that make you feel shitty?

E7: Who is the Good Goddess client and why should they check out your business and products?

NG: Our clients are women who are looking for a trustworthy partnership to optimize their lifestyle. They are usually very busy with work and/or kids and love the online support and convenience of it all. Our clients are also men who need a Good Goddess in their lives; from a little help in the kitchen to simply guiding them in the right direction when it comes to activating their foods. Turns out men want great skin and hair too!

E7: Lastly, where can Good Goddess products be found and purchased?

NG: All our products can be purchased on the goodgoddess.com website. We often have pop-ups as well and other special events to promote the brand and reconnect with the community, but everything is always available at your fingertips.
