After a summer of multiple retrogrades and eclipses, we can finally look forward to a fresh-start with the arrival of fall. September has been a month of smooth cosmic sailing (thank you, universe!) and this is a great time to recommit to your health goals and regime. With the sun currently in Libra, the sign of the scales and the beauty-loving peace-keeper of the zodiac, our focus will be on restoring equilibrium to our lives and doing what makes us feel best in our bodies.
Don’t know where to start when it comes to resetting your health regime this fall? Here’s a guide to help you, according to your star sign.
(March 21-April 19)
As the most competitive of the signs, you thrive on continuously getting better, Aries. What gets your competitive spirit fired up? If you’re not a team / intramural sports person, consider getting a group together to train for an adventure like the Toronto Waterfront Marathon (Oct. 21). No one can rally a troupe like you, either, so share the love and let your infectious energy help others stay motivated, too.
(April 20-May 20)
Especially as we head into the cold months, you’ll want to make it possible to integrate daily movement at home. Create a designated space for home workouts if you don’t have one already. (Even if you live in a shoebox, all you need is a corner to roll out a yoga mat). And don’t underestimate the details, Taurus. Add small, sensual treats like oil diffusers, plants, or candles – whatever makes it feel nice. Download an app like Aaptiv which make it possible to cardio in a few square feet of space.
(May 21-June 20)
Ideally, Gemini, your health-regime feels exciting and full of variety. Kick off a new chapter this fall by splurging on a subscription box like Gainz Box or Buff Boxx to keep your workout attire and supplement arsenal fresh. Or, if the word gains makes you want to scream, check out one of our picks for subscription boxes to help you live like a goddess and get monthly treats delivered to your door to help you plan moon rituals, or eat / bathe / entertain like you truly love yourself.
(June 21-July 22)
Cancer energy often gravitates toward the finer things in life, including really good good. So rather than resist, make it your fall mission to up your meal prep game. Your bod and your budget will thank you. Splurge on your favourite lifestyle influencers’ cookbook (check out some of our favourite wellness books to get you glowing), or take yourself out shopping for a new really nice pantry staples or set of cooking tools. Make cooking healthy an experience you crave.
(July 23-August 22)
You’re the life of the party, Leo, and you prefer to be where the people are. If you find that expressing yourself with passion and creativity is addictive, get into a routine where you can be around people who light you up and make you want to move. Sign up for a weekly class like Beyonce Ballet at Army of Sass, or Theatre Jazz at Metro Movement (if you’re in Toronto) and really get your groove back for fall.
(August 23-September 22)
Your sign lives to be of service, Virgo, and your efforts generally connect you to other fruitful opportunities. How could you lend your energy to your community in a way that keeps you feeling inspired and expanded? Commit to an energy exchange at a yoga studio, or join the crew of volunteers that make Wanderlust Fest happen. If it lets you connect with people doing good work, it’ll light up your whole life.
(September 23-October 22)
Ruled by Venus, the planet of love and beauty, Libra energy gravitates toward like-minded groups and clean spaces. Team up with a crew and practice movement and gratitude at a Yoga or Barre class. Learn how to master your posture and alignment at Barreworks, or stretch it out at the sun-soaked Afterglow Studio in the beaches. Or, if you’re more of the sweat-your-guts-out type, consider joining a niche gym like Orange Theory.
(October 23-November 21)
Too much routine is a scary thing for a Scorpio. Spend too much time squished into a box and you can act out. Make a point to incorporate some adventure (and if you can, adrenaline!) into your life. Plan a handful of DIY wellness retreats up north this fall and get into some water – as a water sign those waves can be healing, and break up the weekly grind. Go splits on an AirBnB with a pal or two who crave escape too.
(November 22-December 21)
The most philosophical of the fire signs, Sagittarius energy is associated with travel and growth. If your health routine can come with a side of connecting you to your very free spirit, you’re in. Get a membership at a yoga studio and experience some of the ancient practices of eastern cultures. Or, if you’re not a yogi, then get a pair of solid hikers and map out some hikes in the GTA that light up your inner explorer.
(December 22-January 19)
Results are everything for you, Capricorn. When you put your mind to a goal, you achieve it, without question – but you must stay connected to your progress. So start here: Lock down your health wish list (what do you want? Better sleep? Tamed sugar cravings? More energy?) then decide how you can reverse-engineer your health regime. If you can swing it, splurge on a personal trainer or coach to help you reach your goals. Or, get a fitbit and track it yourself.
(January 20 to February 18)
Your inquisitive air sign does best to be constantly learning and surrounded by people who keep you motivated. Anything that looks like a routine will get dull fast for you, Aquarius, so find you a spot you can do for workouts that are always high-energy and varied. Join a SPINCO class and let those beats keep you pumped up, or, give high-intensity interval training a try at a Crossfit studio in your hood.
(February 19 to March 20)
It may sound trite, Pisces – but really, you’re happier when you’re closer to water, right? You vibe with this element in a deep way. Think about how it acts in nature – it may be still and gentle, but it can erode mountains over time. Use it as your health role model this fall. Try floating as a way to shut your mind off and connect with your deep strength. Or, just get you into a pool at your local YMCA and do some laps – see how it changes your mood.
