Dry hands and chapped lips are the unfortunate struggles we Canadians have to live with for a solid 9 months out of the year–or even more in some cases–especially depending on where in Canada you live. For this and many more reasons, we could not be more obsessed with LANO, an Australian brand (that recently launched at Sephora Canada) that’s not only all-natural but uses a not-so-common main ingredient: Lanolin
In case you’re not familiar with this old school natural ingredient, it’s a wax secreted by the sebaceous glands of domestic sheep breeds that are raised specifically for their wool. Now, we know it may sound a little off-putting but it is completely animal-friendly, and lanolin is known to protect skin from climate and the environment.
Earlier this year, we interviewed LANO (and Lanolips) founder Kirsten Carriol for our #FounderFiles feature series and we wanted to know even more about this Aussie #BossBabe! See below for Kirsten’s personal Sydney City Guide that includes where she likes to eat, drink, shop and more in Sydney, Australia:
Where To Eat:
For Breakfast: For the weekend I would do BILLS in Bondi – the corn fritters with smashed avocado brunch are a massive Sydney institution, I dream about it.
For Lunch: And for a special girls lunch, I would hang at Icebergs Bondi, which is the pinnacle of Sydney magnificence…their parmesan & peas side dish is legendary – I have it as a main course.
For Dinner: At the moment in Sydney, everyone is obsessed with Freds. It feels like you are in someone’s house, with an open kitchen and menu that changes every day. It’s super buzzy and hip. Also a great new one is Hubert!
For Coffee: During the week I would go for business meetings and coffee at The Grounds. It’s in inner Sydney yet surrounded by flower markets, herb gardens, pet pigs and chickens, and the BEST coffee.
Where To Drink:
The Bar: This Must Be The Place features cocktails made with cold pressed juice served in a comfy yet professional bar-setting that’s perfect for enjoying agreat drink after a long day.
The Party: The Ivy is known as one of the world’s best bars, and is designed to be a sophisticated ‘adults playground’ that even has a pool for you to relax (or play!) in depending on what you’re in the mood for.
Where to Shop:
For Designer Brands: My #1 go-to for designer labels like Isabel Marant, YSL and Chloe is Parlour X in Paddington.
For Local Brands: I also love The Intersection for a cluster of the coolest local designers!
Where To Work Out
The Hike: The best exercise is doing ‘The Bondi to Bronte Walk‘. It takes about 30 mins – of the most incredible coastline in Sydney. Most Sydney-siders exercise outside in the fresh air, only inside when they really have to.
The Instructor: Yoga is big though, a very authentic yogi I see when I get time is Paul from Yoga Moves. His very rustic/pared back but super skilled style is the best in the business.
Where To See Sydney:
The View: You definitely need to get onto Sydney Harbour and see the city by water! Nothing beats it. Via Ferry, water taxi or private boat, it doesn’t matter, just get on the water!
