There are few things I love more in the summertime than a refreshing homemade lemonade, especially when it’s made for ‘adults only’. So when my friends at Moxies Grill & Bar invited me to check out their House-made Hard Lemonade Pop-Up at the Wine & Spirit Festival at Sugar Beach, I was quick to accept with mucho excitement.
So far Summer 2017 in Toronto has been rather tropical, mostly due to the fact that we’ve been experiencing tropical-like rainstorms on a weekly, if not daily, basis. On the Saturday I decided to visit the Moxies Grill & Bar House-made Hard Lemonade Pop-Up at the Wine & Spirit Festival, there was a downpour in the afternoon right before I was about to visit. Thankfully, the weather cleared up, and by the time I arrived in the early evening, the sun had come out and the weather was beautiful. I was also so happy to see that the weather hadn’t affected the attendance of festival goers, because Sugar Beach was packed and everyone was happily enjoying their time exploring what it had to offer.
Despite the endless rows of vendors at the Wine & Spirits Festival, it was easy to find the Moxie’s House-made Hard Lemonade Pop-Up thanks to their takeover of an extensive area that had quickly become ‘party central’ at the festival. With Drake blaring from the speakers on repeat, the Moxie’s live DJ had everyone around dancing on their feet, and lining up for their fresh and delicious vodka lemonade drinks (made with Tito’s Vodka and fresh lemon juice) that were all too easy to drink. Plus, it was rather entertaining to watch friends and couples tackle the giant yellow Jenga games that were free for anyone to play. I think what I loved most is that the Moxie’s Pop-Up offered a space that felt more like being on a comfortable outdoor patio — complete with cocktail tables and shaded lounge areas — which is always appreciated when hanging out at a busy festival in the middle of a hot summer.
In case you haven’t had the chance to check out the Moxie’s Hard Lemonade Pop-Up in person yet, you’ve still got one more chance to do so! Find it next on July 15th 2017 in the beer garden of the GWN sports Regatta at Marylin Bell Park for the Dragon Boat Festival from 11-6pm serving their Moxie’s House-made Hard Lemonade.
