‘The Paloma’ Grapefruit Tequila Cocktail Recipe with Casamigos from The Keg

By Gracie Carroll

Did you know that National Tequila Day is coming up on July 24th? I don’t know about you, but this is one National “something” day that I’ll actually care about, and definitely be celebrating. Just last week I spent an evening at the newest location of The Keg on King West with a group brought together by Casamigos. Like the tequila brand’s signature hashtag, #HouseOfFriends, the night was an intimate group of friends coming together to discover the latest offerings from The Keg‘s shareable menu, and their specialty Casamigos cocktails.

Considering I’m not one for super sweet and fruity cocktails (except for my Basil Pineapple Margarita), I was pleasantly surprised by just how much I loved the Casamigos cocktails that The Keg served up. One was the Casamigos Mule – a refreshing blend of Casamigos Blanco tequila, ginger syrup, fresh lime juice and ginger beer that would be great on any hot day.  The other, however, was The Paloma – a vibrant grapefruit tequila cocktail that, despite the colour (pretty, but often a signifier of a cocktail I will hate) was light, yet boozy, and not too sweet.

I decided to try and re-create The Keg’s recipe for the Paloma to see if this grapefruit tequila cocktail recipe could hold up, even when placed in the hands of an amateur at-home bartender such as myself. The result? It was even better than I remembered. This National Tequila Day, grab yourself a bottle of Casamigos and try the Paloma for yourself! Keep reading for the recipe below:

Grapefruit Tequila Cocktail Recipe + Casamigos

The Paloma

A Grapefruit Tequila Cocktail Recipe from The Keg

What You Need:

1 1/2 parts Casamigos Reposado Tequila

(note: I used Blanco, both work)

3/4 part fresh grapefruit juice

1 splash grapefruit soda

1/4 part agave nectar

1/3 fresh lime juice

(note: I used a grapefruit cocktail juice with fresh grapefruit chunks squeezed in, and regular soda water rather than grapefruit soda. I also used limited agave and extra lime)

What To Do:

– Add all ingredients to the glass portion of a Boston shaker

– Shake well with ice thens strain into a tall rocks glass filled with fresh ice

Enjoy!!

  1. I was looking for a Grapefruit Tequila Cocktail Recipe as I have invited my friends to a Tequila tasting and I am sure they would like this. I just need to perfect it before they come.
