Here’s the good news: eating vegan doesn’t look or taste like it used to. Long gone are the days of unidentifiable sprouts (SO many sprouts) and cardboard-like textures of reimagined favourites from the meat-lover’s palate. Today, a plant-based diet is colourful, delectable and even a little bit naughty — something that both meat eaters and non can enjoy happily side by side.

Thanks to restaurants like Planta in Toronto’s Yorkville, foodies are being exposed to a whole new world of what eating can be like when it’s totally meatless and plant based. Don’t believe us? Fellow food nerd and Assistant Editor, Blair Stutz, didn’t event realise until after her meal that nothing had included meat or dairy. Seriously, it’s that good.

The popularity of Planta has lead to the opening of Planta Burger; the 100% plant-based and dairy-free burger shack in the epicentre of downtown that brings new life to the coveted “happy meal”. We loved our plant-based cheat meal so much that we begged their team to share a recipe for one of their amazing vegan milkshakes.
