What I Wore: The Inaugural SickKids All-Star Gala 2015

All-Star Gala 2015 15

A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending the inaugural SickKids All-Star Gala on a balmy Friday night. Held inside the Arcadian Court located at Bay and Queen, the soiree gathered some of the city’s finest movers and shakers (not to mention pro athletes) to help raise funds for the SickKids Foundation.

Incredibly, the night – encompassing mainly of young professionals – raised a total of $68,000 net for the foundation. The event featured gala host TSN’s Cabral “Cabbie” Richards and professional athletes for a luxury silent auction and live performances by Aion Clarke and Juno-nominated Glenn Morrison.

To attend the evening, I decided to go with a fairly classic, yet modern look. From my wardrobe, I pulled an deconstructed  cream-coloured vest that I decided to wear as a top, paired with a black pencil skirt by Leilanni, YSL-inspired gold stroppy heels from Le Chateau, and the Lulu Guinness bejewelled Fan clutch I won at the Scrubs In The City silent auction for SickKids only a month earlier.

I always find it quite a thrill to get involved in the silent auctions for SickKids – not only does it help a great cause, but it really fires up my competitive nature. To be honest, I get quite strategic about the whole thing, and am proud to say I’ve never left a SickKids fundraiser empty handed to date. What’s not to love about helping raise money and getting to go home with some fun new stuff?

Although I won’t go into details, I will say that supporting the SickKids Foundation is very important to me, and my family, for very personal reasons. It has been an absolute honour to attend Scrubs In The City over the past few years, and the first ever All-Star Gala in support of the SickKids Foundation.

Often these events – which include live entertainment, open bar, food, and fun – are not much more (or less!) than your average night out on the town in Toronto. I urge to to consider making these events a part of your social calendar with your friends, they are not exclusive and can always use your ticket purchase.
