If you’re like me, you have a taste for the finer things in life but perhaps you don’t quite have the funds to match. Well that’s all about to change because Winterlicious is back this month from January 25 until February 7 and being a foodie on a budget, I can hardly wait! In case you’re unfamiliar, Winterlicious is a beautiful time of year when you can try a huge selection (almost 200!) of Toronto’s best restaurants with delicious prix-fixe menus – all for a price that won’t make you jump through the roof.
One of the many things I absolutely love about being a Toronto gal is that no matter what type of food or cuisine you’re craving, it’s all here. With so many diverse restos taking part this year, it’s no doubt that choosing one (or a few!) will be a tough call to make so here I’ve narrowed them down to my top choices to help make things a little easier for you.

Always wanted to go to India but not down for the long haul flight to get there? Yeah, me either. Now all you have to do is pack up your appetite and head on over to Pukka located on St. Clair West for elevated Indian cooking that is mega flavourful and memorable. Their Winterlicious menu features their notable Chicken 65 which is their own South Indian fried chicken (!!!), butter chicken, pakoras and more!
Northern Maverick Brewing Co.
Say hello to Northern Maverick Brewing Co. – one of Toronto’s best new breweries and a King West hot spot. Plus, with 11,000 square feet of space, you know they mean business! Known for all their house-made delights like their own bacon and bread, everything on their menu has a beer to match. Their Winterlicious menu treats us to a menu that’s elevated while still approachable and definitely delicious! Tuck into their Vegan Barley ‘Risotto’ or indulge with their Beast Burger which boasts fried chicken and beef brisket all piled on top of their house ground Chuck.
A #TeamE7 fave is the Financial District’s Miku and it’s the perfect spot to try during this year’s Winterlicious as this prix-fixe deal is literally a foodie’s dream. Known for bringing the art of Aburi to Toronto, Aburi means to ‘flame sear’ and that’s exactly what these uber talented chefs do. When flame is applied to sushi, the heat changes the sushi’s flavour to create something new and exciting! Their Winterlicious menu is literally next level with impressive entrees like Miso Oden Vol au Vent and desserts like their Passion Fruit Soy Milk Panna Cotta!
Union Station is now a foodie destination thanks to Amano Pasta and Chef Michael Angeloni. This eatery is thankfully part of Winterlicious this year so get ready to eat some of the best Italian that TO has to offer with their menu that consists of classic dishes with a modern twist plus some unexpected ingredients. How about some of their Arancini with Burnt Honey and Smoked Provolone or why not grab a plate of their Long and Flat Tagliatelle with Arugula Pesto and Walnuts? Seriously though – this menu and these dishes are way too good to pass up!

Perhaps a little under the radar (at least for me!), Montgomery’s is now and forever on my must-eat-at list. I have a major appreciation for restaurants that make the extra effort and make a good chunk of their ingredients in-house and Montgomery’s is pretty well known for doing just that. Their Winterlicious menu is filled with their house-made fare like their Sourdough Bread, Charcuterie and even their own butter. Don’t forget to save room for dessert because that Maple Ice Cream with Preserved Cherry and Salt-Cured Foie Gras has my name alllllll over it!
Looking for an amazing view that’s coupled with amazing food? Then Kost on the 44th floor of the BISHA Hotel is where you need to be! Executive Chef Ben Heaton uses California inspiration to craft his menu that features sunny dishes like Beef Tartare Tostada and Grilled Sea Bream. If that doesn’t bring in some sunshine, then their Meyer Lemon Curd for dessert definitely will.
I know, I know – Louix Louis isn’t exactly taking part in Winterlicious BUT they are doing an amazing prix-fixe menu ($40 for lunch and $60 for dinner) that’s pretty much the same deal called Louix-Licious and trust me, you won’t want to sit this one out. This insanely gorgeous resto located at The St. Regis Hotel is all the goals but more importantly, so is the food! With dishes like Smoked Trout with Asparagus and Grapefruit to Pastrami Short Rib with Preserved Beets and Horseradish, these dishes are works of art and don’t even get me started on the desserts – you need to experience these heavenly dishes for yourself!
