What To Make: Konomi Sour From Miku Toronto For National Whiskey Day

In case you missed it, National World Whiskey Day took place this past Wednesday and, if you, like us, decided to save the celebration for the weekend, we’re here to share the ultimate whiskey cocktail to enjoy. Our friends at Miku Toronto have shared their recipe for the delectable Konomi Sour cocktail that gets its green colour from a matcha-infused honey (recipe included below) that’s used as a sweetener. Keep reading for this creative, Japanese take on the classic Whiskey Sour!

Miku’s Konomi Sour Recipe

What You Need:

1.5oz Toki Japanese Whisky

1/4oz Sapin (Fir Liqueur)

1oz lemon juice

1/2oz matcha infused honey (recipe follows)

1 egg white

 

What To Do:

Pour all ingredients into a shaker and dry shake to combine and froth

Add ice and shake again

Fill a glass with ice and strain the shaken drink over it

Garnish with some genmaicha (roasted rice + green tea leaves)

Matcha-Infused Honey Ingredients:

• 1 cup of honey

• 1 tbsp of match powder

What You Need:

Matcha-Infused Honey Ingredients:

• 1 cup of honey

• 1 tbsp of match powder

 

What To Do:

Bring a cup of honey to a simmer over medium heat

Whisk in a tablespoon of matcha and remove from heat

Allow the mixture to cool

Blends of matcha are given names either by the producing plantation, shop or creator of the blend, or by the grand master of a particular tea tradition. When a blend is named by thegrand master of a tea ceremony lineage, it becomes known as the master’s konomi, or favoured blend.
